care

maintenance

Our Internal Timber Plantation Shutters easily elevate your living area with class and style. Proper maintenance and care for your Timber Shutters increases their longevity while keeping them looking brand new.

Below is a simple guide on how to care for your Timber Shutters. If you have any concerns or enquiries about how to best clean and care for your window shutters, call the friendly customer support team at Northside Shutters & Blinds on 1800 133 278.

Removing dust from your Internal Timber Shutters is the first step to ensuring they stay fresh. Gently flip the blades to face the same direction, dusting the entire surface with a dry microfibre cloth, duster or vacuum cleaner (soft furniture attachment). Repeat with the blades flipped in the opposite direction. Pay attention to the corners or hinges where dust can get trapped and build up over time.

Remove grease, dirt, and dust buildup with a damp, soft cloth. If necessary, use a gentle, mild detergent diluted for extra care.

Ensure your Internal Timber Shutters are dried properly by wiping them down with a dry cloth after removing the dust. You can open the blades to allow air to help dry your shutters.

Do not use any harsh/abrasive chemicals to clean your Internal Shutters to avoid damage. Gentle-mild detergents are suitable.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

what does "reveal fit" mean?

Window treatments can be installed in different ways dependent on what may best suit the window. "Reveal Fit" refers to the product being installed inside the window opening that is recessed from the wall (the "Reveal"). Reveal Fit window treatments are becoming increasingly popular as they fit snugly into the architrave.

can you provide me a quote based off measurements?

Absolutely! You may send us measurements and product details via email at sales@northsideshutters.com.au

Our team will  endeavour to provide you with estimate pricing as soon as possible. Please note, however, if you wish to proceed with your quotation, a Check Measure appointment will need to be completed prior to acceptance.

can you do shaped internal shutters?

Unfortunately, we do not offer shaped Internal Shutters. If you are unsure about your window opening, feel free to give our friendly team a call on 1800 133 278 to discuss what alternative options we may be able to provide.

can you do custom colours?

We do not offer custom colour options on our Internal Shutters.

What does "face fit" mean?

"Face Fit" refers to window treatments that are designed to be fitted to the outside face of the window architrave. Face Fit products can be installed on top of the window and will extend outward from the wall. Face Fit installation can ensure the product is properly aligned, especially when the windows are uneven or of an older design-style.

are your shutters suitable for wet areas?

Our Internal Polymer Shutters are moisture resistant and are not prone to bending, fading or warping. Therefore, they are a great option to furnish high-moisture areas such as your kitchen, bathroom and/or laundry. If you undecided between Timber and Polymer Shutters, refer to our answer in this section our contact our team on 1800 133 278.

should i get timber or polymer shutters?

It is ultimately dependent on what you require in a window treatment, however, there are differences between our Timber and Polymer Shutters.

Our Internal Polymer Shutters sit at a lower price point than our Timber Shutters. Being moisture resistant, Polymer Shutters are much more suited to areas prone to getting wet (e.g., your bathroom, laundry and/or kitchen). In addition, our Polymer Shutters have a 10 year warranty on finishes and a 20 year structural warranty, compared to our Timber Shutters of which have a 2 year warranty on finishes and a 5 year structural warranty.

If you prefer a stained timber finish, our Basswood Shutters are the way to go!

do you offer australian made products?

We offer both Imported and an Australian Made option for our Internal Polymer Shutters. Our Timber Shutters are Imported and we do not currently offer an Australian Made option.

can you take my old window treatments when installation is complete?

Our Installers will remove existing window furnishings, however we cannot dispose of these.

do your shutters lock?
